It’s official! The much awaited third and final season of Squid Game is scheduled to debut on June 27. At an event, Netflix Head of Content Bela Bajaria made the announcement along with first-look photos and teases for the remaining cast members of the series.
Season 3 continues where Season 2 left off, delving deeply into Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) moral turmoil. The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) is planning his next vicious move while struggling with overwhelming despair, which will have even more severe and disastrous repercussions for the other competitors. Decisions will become more difficult and the stakes will rise with every new round of deadly games, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
The show is preparing for an exciting finale after the huge success of Squid Game Season 2, which broke records with 68 million views on its debut and became the third most-watched season on Netflix ever. Because Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed back-to-back, viewers will be able to return to the tense, high-stakes world they have grown to love sooner rather than later.
The recently unveiled launch poster provides a terrifying preview of what’s to come. In a sharp contrast to the colourful graphics of Season 2’s games, a pink-clad guard pulls a bloodied competitor towards a coffin with a pink ribbon. A frightening floor with floral patterns has taken its place, indicating the impending final round. Furthermore, the silhouettes of Young-hee and Cheol-su, characters alluded to in the Season 2 post-credit scene, hint at more sinister difficulties to come.
